As pet lovers, we understand the stress or anxiety you might feel when booking your dog (or any beloved pet) into a pet resort, dog hotel or cattery before going away on holidays.
With so many things to think about or considerations to make, it can seem slightly overwhelming and sometimes even a bit daunting. Which is why we’re here to help!
We’ve compiled a list of things to consider before booking your pup in for a stay, plus a few helpful tips for those who struggle to say goodbye to their furry friends.
Does your dog have any specific dietary requirements?
Everyone’s taste buds and bellies are different – we understand this. While our meals have a pretty good success rate of changing the minds of even the fussiest of eaters, we know that sometimes dietary requirements just can’t be helped.
If your pup has any food allergies or special requirements, simply pack them up a bag of suitable foods and we will make sure they are given out correctly!
Does your dog have any illnesses or allergies?
Does your dog get particularly sneezy in spring, or have any other type of sickness we should know about? In addition to making sure their vaccinations and vet checks are up-to-date, we’d love it if you could tell us about any health issues prior to bringing them in so our staff are prepared and able to look after them to the best of our ability.
We have a 24-hour vet service on call in the case of any emergencies, however, feel free to let us know if you have a specific vet you’d like us to contact.
Does your dog have any behavioural traits or qualities that might put them at risk?
Is your dog a sneaky hole digger, or fence jumper? Or maybe they don’t react well to other dogs, or in certain environments? Any of these things should, again, be told to staff upon arrival so they can ensure the safety of your pet, as well as the others staying with us.
If you’d like some help with combatting these mischievous behaviours, our dog training service might be of interest to you.
Does your dog get particularly sad or homesick?
Our friendly staff love spending time with your pooch and making sure they feel as comfortable and happy in our resort as possible! If you know your fur baby tends to feel particularly sad or lonely when you leave them, let us know so we can offer specific services to help keep them happy and stimulated during their stay.
Do you want updates of your doggy while you’re away?
If you still don’t feel 100% at ease with leaving your little one behind, be sure to add a pet postcard onto your booking. During your dog’s stay you will be sent a link with a personalised update detailing what your dog has been up to, along with some fun photos of them!
If you’re looking for a safe, trustworthy and friendly place to book your four-legged friend into, we can help. Contact us today to have a chat about our dog accommodation options at your closest resort.Â
